The company was founded in 1997 under the name Penthesileia in Berlin Mitte. Today, the name of designer Anke Runge is the trademark. The brand ar - Anke Runge Berlin has established itself with high-quality, recognisable bag design and has acquired a far-reaching clientele.

Form + Functionality = The Design
is inspired by architecture, art, music and nature and by the city - Berlin. Anke Runge bags are timeless, straightforward, clear and elegant.
The shop and design studio
is located in the centre of Berlin, between Museum Island, galleries and restaurants. The bags float on a large magnetic wall (by Matthias Wolff) opposite the shop window. Recessed light rings simulate daylight and ensure the correct perception of the colour and structure of the leather. At the back of the shop is the heart of Anke Runge Berlin, the workshop rooms where the heads and the sewing machines are smoking, where designs are made and manufactured.
The sustainability
Anke Runge pays attention to short distances in her purchasing policy. 95% of the materials come from the EU, leather from Germany and Italy, sometimes Spain, and complies with EU directives. The Agatha and weekender collections are made of the highest quality eco-leather, vegetable tanned and dyed. The main reinforcement materials are made from recycled vegetable leather scraps in combination with latex. Leftover materials are donated to children's institutions and training centres. Electricity comes from renewable energies.
